PURPOSE: To enhance the running stability of a vehicle without directly measuring a quantity representing the running stability by determining a second reference quantity or desired quantity so that a first quantity representing the running stability of the vehicle assumes a value predefined according to a first reference quantity. CONSTITUTION: First means 1.1, 1.2, 2 determine at least one second quantity w'ay,sp which represents the running stability of a vehicle 1, in a manner such that the quantity is equivalent to an actual quantity corresponding to a first quantity (w) to be controlled. In such a device, a second means 4 is added to control a second quantity w'ref toward a second reference quantity or desired quantity w'ref,ay,ref. Third means 3, 3. 1, 3.2 are further added to determine the second reference quantity or desired quantity w'ref,ay,ref so that the first quantity (w) to be controlled assumes the value predefined according to the first reference quantity wref. The running stability of the vehicle 1 is thus enhanced without direct measurement of a quantity representing the running stability. |
