PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst having high NOx reduction decomposition action even under a high oxygen concn. atmosphere and useful for purifying an exhaust gas from a combustion engine such as diesel engine or lean burn engine in the future. CONSTITUTION:The catalyst suitable for reduction and decomposition of NOx in the exhaust gas is obtained by synthesizing a spinel type conjugated oxide containing at least one kind of cobalt (Co), copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni), and gallium (Ga) and heat treating the synthesized powder under the atmosphere containing at least oxygen, a hydrocarbon and nitrogen monoxide at >=600 deg.C for >=1hr. |
