An appts. which controls the tension of a yarn fed to a bobbin by means of compensating for speed differences between the linear speed of yarn and the winding speed of the bobbin, comprises an encoder (1) for detecting the linear speed of yarn, a proximity sensor (2) for producing one contact signal according to one revolution of the bobbin, through which an amount of wound yarn may be measured, a ball-screw set (3) for arranging the winding yarn on right and left, a micro-processor (6) including a key pad (4) and a display device (5) for setting both the predetermined speed of yarn and the amount of wound yarn, and a couple of induction motors (8, 8') which are selectively rotated in a proper r.p.m. speed by a traverse inverter (7) and a spindle inverter (7') resp., generating an A.C. output according to the control of the micro-processor.
