The container is formed from one or several sheets of material and comprises an upper box (1) which contains the articles or merchandise and a lower support structure (3,3'). The support structure, which is located under the bottom (4) of the box and integral with the box structure, is formed by two open tubular bodies (3,3'), of rectangular section. Each tubular body is made by folding and simultaneous winding of a plane portion of the sheet material. The portions are subdivided, by folding lines, in parallel bands, forming, after folding, the plane walls of the tubular body. The bands forming the upper and lower (8') horizontals are full and the bands constituting the vertical side walls (9') have spaced cut out openings (10).
