The friction brake is formed as a tube (1), placed on the axis of a reel (4). It carries rings or joints (2) which produce friction by rubbing on the shaft (5), which is driven in rotation by a motor (6). The whole assembly is supported on a base frame (7). The friction produced by the shaft rotating against the friction rings is used to drive or the brake the rotation of the reel, according to whether the line is being fed out or collected in. Internally, the tube contains a lubricator (3) to ensure the uniformity and longevity of the brake.
