PURPOSE:To prevent formation of a defective image by lack of a light emission quantity at the time of rising of switching on of a fluorescent lamp which is a light source for illumination of an original by enabling start of scanning of an original picture when both of a detected light quantity value and a change in time of this light quantity value exceed a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:This copying device has a light controllable sensor 9 which detects the light quantity from the light source for illumination of the original and a control means which enables the start of scanning of the original image when both of the light quantity value detected by this light controllable sensor 9 and the change in time of this light quantity value exceed the prescribed value. The light quantity of the fluorescent lamp 5 which is the light source changes after the lamp is turned on before a stationary state is attained and, therefore, the output from the light controllable sensor 9 is monitored by a controller and the start of the scanning of the original image is made possible when the output value meets the condition that this value is above the required light quantity value previously inputted and set and does not change or is under rising. The deterioration in the image output, such as fogging, by a malfunction arising from overshooting at the time of rising of the fluorescent lamp 5 is prevented by the control to enable the start of the scanning of the original image in such a manner. |
