PURPOSE:To aim at reducing the differential pressure between the electrodes of a phosphoric acid fuel cell, providing a uniform flow rate within the cell, enhancing the corrosion resistance and various characteristics of the cell, and lowering the highest temperature, while enhancing a quality regarding assembly and the productivity of members. CONSTITUTION:A phosphoric acid fuel cell 1 is of rectangular longitudinal section with the ratio of the lengths of the longer to shorter sides 1.4 3.0. Reduction in the differential pressure between the electrodes of the phosphoric acid fuel cell, a uniform flow rate, enhancement of corrosion resistance and various characteristics of the cell, and lowering of the highest temperature are achieved, and a quality regarding assembly is enhanced. Further, a plurality of composite separators 36 and a plurality of electrodes 2, both of which are members constituting the fuel cell 1 of rectangular longitudinal section, are manufactured in a single operation, thereby enhancing the productivity of the members constituting the cell. |
