The method for preparing pyrazole sulfonyl isocyanate derivatives of formula (I) comprises reacting carbamate cpd. of formula (II) with PCl5 in the presence or absence of a solvent. In the formulas, A is H, C1-4 alkyl or phenyl; R2 is H, C1-4 alkyl, allyl or propargyl; R3 is H, methyl, ethyl or phenyl; R is C1-8 alkyl, alkylether, allyl or phenyl. The solvent is selected from benzene, toluene or chlorobenzene. The cpds. of formula (I) are useful as an intermediate in the prodn. of pyrazole sulfonyl urea herbicides.
