PURPOSE: To provide a method for performing digitizing processing to a prescribed image part inside a color image through a device having limited memory capacity. CONSTITUTION: The color image is scanned twice. An image signal 30 becomes prescribed image part data through subsampling processing for the first time (I) and space reducing processing for the second time (II). Space data 35 and 36 in the prescribed image part are determined by an interactive work station 34 for displaying a sampling processed image signal 33. The 1st sampling and the 2nd sampling due to a scanner are performed with the same spatial resolution. Since subsampling processing and space reduction are performed during scanning operation, the optimum utilization of memory capacity can be executed. Besides, since the color image is digitized through one process, a register error can be prevented. |
