PURPOSE:To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp having an induction coil which is free from oxidation deterioration and deformation when it became high temperature by heat from the lamp. CONSTITUTION:In an electrodeless discharge lamp in which high frequency current is passed from a high frequency power source 3 to an induction coil 2 arranged on the outside of a bulb 1 made of a light transmitting material, into which a discharge gas is sealed, and a high frequency electromagnetic field is applied to the discharge gas sealed in the bulb 1 to excite the discharge gas for lightening, the induction coil 2 is formed with an alloy of silver and nickel or nickel oxide. The outer surface of the induction coil 2 is covered with a fiber layer 4 made of a high melting point insulating material, and a coil shape holding means 5 which prevents spreading of the coil distance is preferably installed, and in addition, a shape holding layer 6 made of a high melting point insulating material is preferably formed on the outside of the coil shape holding means 5. |
