PURPOSE: To provide an optical amplification waveguide having double pump structure pumping at 980 nm. CONSTITUTION: Two ends are coupled through first and second pump/signal wavelength multiplex 2×2 couplers 21a, 21b, respectively, and first and second optical pump lasers 20a, 20b have joint pump structure and counter pump structure, respectively, with respect to an optical amplification waveguide. The amplification waveguide comprises a third pump/signal wavelength multiplex 2×2 coupler 21c and split into two optically coupled parts 22a, 22b substantially transparent to the signal wavelength. |
