<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the recognition processing and to improve the recognition efficiency in regard of a pattern recognition method/device and a recognition dictionary producing method which recognize an input pattern by means of a dictionary used for recognition of patterns. CONSTITUTION:An input pattern to be recognized is inputted to a pattern recognition processing part 3 from a pattern input part 1. The part 3 divides equally the recognition area of the input pattern into N parts in terms of sizes, number of dots, etc., like in a dictionary production mode and calculates an N- dimensional feature vector that requires the information on those divided recognition areas as elements. Then (N-1) pieces of combinations are formed in the order of larger or smaller feature vectors as a feature set. The resemblance is decided between the feature set and the one stored in the dictionary. Then the name of the category of the largest resemblance is defined as the category name of the input pattern.</p> |
