1,098,042. Wire joints. SWYFTITE Ltd. April 18, 1966 [May 4, 1965], No. 18667/65. Heading F2G. The end parts of two parallel wires 10, 11 are connected by passing each wire through one of a pair of side-by-side bores in connecting means 12, 13, bending the ends of the wires back to form hair-pin bends 10a, 11a and pulling the wires so that the free ends of the hair-pin bends enter the other of the pair of bores. The extreme terminal portions 10b, 11b of the free ends are then bent back. Alternatively, one wire may extend through one bore and the other wire through the other bore, the free ends of the hair-pin bends of said one wire and said other wire being received in said other bore and said one bore respectively. As shown, the connecting means consists of two ferrules, which may be separate from each other or connected, as by welding. Alternatively, the connecting means may be formed from a sheet bent to a closed S-shaped configuration or from two plates which are semicircularly grooved so that they form a pair of side-by-side bores. |
