<p>PURPOSE:To generate an optimum compression parameter maximizing a compression rate and minimizing objective picture quality evaluation of a compressed image and picture quality deterioration automatically. CONSTITUTION:A video image output device receives an original image, an image compressor 2 generates compressed image data, a picture quality evaluation device 3 obtains a difference of components (R, G, B or the like), obtains the sum of picture element numbers among coordinates with respect to each difference (called power difference) and compares a deviation alpha of the power difference with a reference based on a past experience for the evaluation. When picture quality deterioration is high, the compression parameter is revised, the image compression and the evaluation are implemented again and when the setting condition is satisfied, the evaluation of picture quality is finished. A neural network 4 uses the compression parameter to learn a statistic property of an image and generates an optimum parameter whose learning is finished.</p> |
