<p>PURPOSE:To provide the method and device for processing image so as to convert low-resolution image information, for which characters, drawings and natural images are mixed, to satisfactory high-resolution information. CONSTITUTION:When enlarging one picture element of image information mixing characters, drawings and natural images to (NXM) picture elements and converting low-resolution information to high-resolution information, the state of distributing picture element values around an attention picture element is evaluated by a picture element value distribution evaluating circuit 103, two representative values are decided by an arrangement representative value deciding circuit 104, and an arranging circuit 109 arranges two decided representative values in two areas separated by a separating circuit 108. Thus, the parts of characters and drawings can be converted with clear edges without generating any jaggy, and the part of natural images can be satisfactorily converted without generating interpolating blurrs.</p> |
