摘要 Armour plating is made from layers of sheet of thickness 0.2-5 mm. Each pair of sheets is welded together using welding points arranged in a grid-like pattern, with the weld points of a subsequent pair of sheets offset from those of the previous pair. The sheets are also perforated in a grid-like pattern. The sheets have a pref. thickness of 0.5-2 mm and are pref. made of an austenitic nitrogen alloyed steel having high strength. The spot welds are spaced apart by 5-100 mm and have a diameter of 1-5 mm. The individual sheets may be explosively welded together or stuck together. The perforations in the sheets have a diameter of 2-8 mm and the edges of the perforations can act as the spot weld locations. The hole spacings are 10-100 mm.
