ENCLOSURE FOR THERMOELECTRIC REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD

An enclosed structure (40) is provided for use with a refrigerator (20) having a door assembly (22). The enclosed structure (40) preferably contains superinsulation materials (46) and a plurality of matching drawers (430). The enclosed structure (40) preferably includes corner joints (149) which minimize thermal energy transfer between adjacent superinsulation panels (46). The refrigerator (20) may include a cooling system having a thermoelectric device (92) for maintaining the temperature within the refrigerator at selected values. If desired, a fluid cooling system (760) and an active gasket may also be provided between the door assembly (22) and the enclosed structure. The fluid cooling system (760) preferably includes a second thermoelectric device (792) to maintain the temperature of the fluid flowing through the active gasket at a selected value. The drawers (430) associated with the refrigerator may be used for gathering, processing, shipping and storing food or other perishable items.
