The flat iron (6) is insertable between the gripper jaws (12, 12A, 12A'). The mechanism has bending edge over which the flat iron, held by the jaws, is bendable. The gripper jaws are fitted on lever arms (1A, B) and bound a longitudinally open cavity in folding position.The cavity approx. corresponds to the outer contour of the flat iron. At least one gripper jaw contains a bending edge whose width approx. corresponds to that of the flat iron. Pref. the lever arms are of steel sheet strips, pivoting at one end, when set flat one on the other.
