<p>This invention relates to heat-curable foundry binder resins comprising: a) a nitrogen free modified furan resin, b) furfuryl acohol, c) polyvinyl acetate, and d) a tar selected from the group consisting of resorcinol pitch, bis phenol A tar, and mixtures thereof. The resins are used to prepare foundry shapes by mixing them with an aggregate and an acid curing catalyst to form a foundry mix. The resulting mix is shaped and heated at an elevated temperature to form a cured foundry shape.</p> |
