CHARGING GENERATOR WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION

PURPOSE:To support the confirmation of failure generation and tracing of possible causes by storing at least one of the data and contents of some failure at the time of detecting the failure, and reading it as necessary. CONSTITUTION:When an on-vehicle generator 1 is started by turning on an engine key 4, a field winding 13 is excited, and an armature winding 11 generates three-phase a.c. current. The a.c. current is converted to d.c. by a full-wave rectifier 12 to excite the field winding 13 and charge a battery 5. A voltage regulator 2 is provided with a control part 25 to conduct various types of control. A diagnosis part 26 is also mounted to hold at least one of the data and contents of some failure. When a particular signal is inputted from an external terminal 27 as necessary, the data and contents of failure held by the diagnosis part 26 are read out to be displayed on a display device 7 and inputted in a personal computer 9. It is thus possible to conduct exact self-diagnosis and make a person in charge of maintenance or development utilize it effectively.
