Spring driven door lock for cars

The lock has a latch (6) which rotates round an axis against a spring between a locked position where the latch holds the striking plate and an unlocked position where the striking plate is released from the latch. It has a knuckle joint with two arms (10, 11) hinged together. The end of one arm is hinged to the lock housing (10) and the end of the other is attached to the latch (6). The length of the arms and the position of the axes of articulation on the housing and the latch are designed so that as the lock moves from an unlocked to locked position the axis of rotation (12) of the 2 arms of the knuckle joint pass from one side to the other of the line (15). When moving from the locked to the unlocked position the axis of rotation (14) of the knuckle joint passes from one side the other of the line (16) passing through the axis of articulation of the two arms of the knuckle joint and the axis of rotation of the latch. When being locked or unlocked the initial rotation presses against the spring (13) until it reaches an unstable position following an angle greater than the final angle of rotation of the latch. At this point the spring moves in the direction of the rotation.
