Continuous measurement of the gas content in liqs. esp. mineral oils in lubricant circuits, is carried out by: (a) completely dissolving the undissolved gas present in the liq. by high compression of the gas/liq. mixt; (b) introducing the mixt. into a throttle (1), the static pressure drop of which causes partial degassing; (c) measuring the turbidity of the mixt. with an optoelectronic sensor (2); (d) using a regulator (3), connected to the sensor to operate an adjusting valve (4) such that the gas amount, evolved in the throttle corresponds to a target value preset by the regulator on entering the regulating section; and (e) measuring the pressure, corresponding to the saturation pressure of the mixt. by means of a pressure sensor (6) in the regulating section. The measured saturation pressure is converted to a gas content measurement in conventional manner. Also claimed is an appts. for carrying out the above method.
