The freely protruding part (17) of the desk or table-top can be flapped in two directions. It can pivot on a horizontal axle on a fixed part (2) of the work- or table-top. The flap part of the work or table-top is swivelled over the remaining part of the work or table-top, so that its upper side (26), now underneath, rests on the support element (27) which is supported on the remaining part of the work top. In a freely protruding position, the flap part rests on retractable support arms (23) on the underside (24) of the remaining part of the work top.
