The appliance has a coating head (2) opposite to the carrier foil (1). The head has an internal flow distribution unit (23,24,25). A coating fluid flow coming into the intake (21) of the head is evenly distributed to a slot-shaped discharge (22) of the head, by the unit. The flow resistance is the same along each flow thread between intake and discharge. It is determined by the length and the cross section of the flow path, and its inclination relative to gravity.
