The invention concerns pinking control in a spark-ignition internal combustion engine with a short-time control and an additional long-time control. The long-time adaptation consists of a first correction measure, in which an adaptation value for a given operating point just passed is measured in function of control strokes, and the predetermined characteristic field value is referred to new predetermined spark timing values (predetermined characteristic field value plus adaptation value) when pinking occurs. The long-time adaptation also includes a second correction measure, whereby when a large, recognized and necessary change occurs in an adaptation value (LZ) for one operating point, the adaptation values (LZ) for the other correction characteristic field points are also changed by adding correction values (LN values). When operating points are changed, the pinking regulation as a whole therefore becomes more stable and the amount of pinking is reduced. |
