Partitioned infrared sensor array

An infrared sensor has a Fresnel lens 101 for focusing radiation on to an array of sensing elements 108 via an infrared filter 105. A plurality of partitions 102 directs the radiation from particular directions on to certain sensing elements 108 in the array. Shielded reference elements are used to eliminate vibrational and thermal noise from the signals. A circuit processes the signals from the sensor array 108 to detect motion or presence of an infrared emitting body.
