PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in coupling efficiency by selecting the connection parts according to the measured values of the dispersion characteristics of optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:When the dispersion characteristics of respective optical fibers 1... of an optical cable are beforehand measured and the lengths of the optical fibers 1... up to the connection parts 4... are selected according to the dispersion characteristics , then the dispersion characteristics of the respective single lines become constant, the decrease in coupling efficiency is prevented and the optical transmission of reduced distortion occurrence, etc. may be performed. The similar results may also be obtained even if the optical fibers 1... of the same length are combined according to the dispersion characteristics and selectively coupled. |
