PURPOSE:To obtain an ultraviolet protective which has a high transparency in the visible region, a high absorbing power in the ultraviolet region, and excellent corrosion resistance and ultraviolet protective properties and is useful as an external preparation for skin by using a silicon carbide powder with a specified particle size. CONSTITUTION:A silicon carbide powder with a particle size of 0.001-10mum is used. Pref. the powder gives an X-ray diffraction pattern corresponding to JCPDS file no. 4-756, etc., and still pref. is of a hexagonal crystal system, contains 0.50wt.% or lower free carbon and 0.1wt.% or lower iron or its compd., and has an L value of 75 or higher. |
