PURPOSE: To certainly and accurately position the neutral position in a self- energizing synchronizer for a multistage transmission. CONSTITUTION: In this synchronizer, first and second gears 52, 54 are fixed on a shaft 28 to rotate together with the shaft 28, while a reciprocating synchronous clutch mechanism 62 is axially movably provided on splines 29 of the shaft 28 between the first and second gears 52, 54. The first or second gear 52, 54 is connected to the shaft 28 by axially moving a flange 110 by shift force, engaging and synchronizing a ring 114, 116 with a friction member 94, 96 of the first or second gear 52, 54, then engaging a jaw member 102, 104 with a jaw member 98, 100. A spring 122 fits a neutral position plunger 124 formed in the flange 110 in a recessed part 128 of the shaft 28 to accurately position the reciprocating synchronous clutch mechanism 62 at the neutral position so that intervals between the rings 114, 116 and the friction members 94, 96 are accurately controlled to prevent wear of friction faces. |
