<p>PURPOSE: To provide a fiber-reinforced semi-finished thermoplastic sheet material controlled in physical properties by sufficiently managing the number and a length of fiber ends protruded from both main surfaces of each glass mat. CONSTITUTION: Each of glass mats is punched by needles from two sides in an asymmetrical way, so that the number of fiber ends protruding from the two major mat surfaces are practically the same, but the length of the fiber ends protruding from the first major surface is substantially longer than the length of the fiber ends protruding from the second opposite major surface. The glass mats are impregnated with thermoplastic resin, having either their first major surface turned towards the outside surface of the thermoplastic sheet, for maximum nobility, or having their second major surfaces turned toward the outside surface of the thermoplastic sheet, for maximum surface quality of the molded part.</p> |
