PURPOSE:To enhance the operability of map scrolling on a mobile navigation system by scrolling the map continuously at a speed determined by the function of depressing time and amount of key at the time of stoppage while scrolling the map at a constant speed by a predetermined amount in a predetermined direction by single operation at the time of running and stopping the scrolling operation automatically when a prescribed amount is scrolled. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 104 detects running/stopping state of a vehicle using a distance sensor 102 and when the vehicle is stopping, the map is scrolled at a constant rate depending on the depressing direction of an eight-way scroll key 111. The key 111 is then depressed continuously in same direction and a decision is made that the amount of scroll is lower than a prescribed maximum value. Subsequently, the amount of scroll is increased stepwise according to a function of continuous depressing time before the map is scrolled by a predetermined amount again. The process is ended when depressing of key 111 is interrupted. When the vehicle is running, the map is scrolled at a constant rate toward a point on the screen determined depending on the depressing direction of the key 111 and the process is ended when that point comes in the center. |
