An aq. machining fluid (I) comprises (a) water; (b) a sulphurised organic material selected from (i) sulphurised 6-22C unsatd. aliphatic carboxylic acids and salts thereof; (ii) sulphurised unsatd. esters of 1-22C aliphatic carboxylic acids; and (iii) sulphurised polymerised unsatd. fatty acids, and salts and esters thereof; (c) a sulphurised hydrocarbon; and (d) an aliphatic ester of a dialkyldithiocarbamic acid.
