PURPOSE:To obtain a skeletal muscle growth agent capable of growing a skele tal muscle cell or forming a hypertrophy muscular cell. CONSTITUTION:This skeletal muscle growth agent contains carrageenan (e.g. lambda-carrageenan) which is an edible polysaccharide as an active ingredient. Carrageenan exists as a cell membrane component of Chondrus crispus of a red alga or Chondrus ocellatus or a kind of Gigartina ocellatus of Japan and is obtained by extracting these marine algae with hot water. This agent can not positively multiply a muscular cell but the cell can be willingly multiplied and further made hypertrophy without specifically moving. Since cell division can be induced and the growth is accelerated, the agent can be applied to promotion of skin growth after burn, etc., and to coating with viable cells of an artificial material applied to artificial joint. Single dose is 1mug/kg. |
