PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material utilizing a novel color forming mechanism and excellent in the preservability of a recording image, the preservability of a background and chemical resistance by providing a thermal color forming layer utilizing color forming reaction of a copper (II) complex containing a compd. having a specific structure as a ligand and a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer utilizing color forming reaction of a copper (II) complex containing a compd. represented by formula (wherein R1 and R2 are H or an alkyl group, X is a phenyl group, a substituted phenyl group, a nitro group or a halogen atom and m is an integer of 0-4) as a ligand and a reducing agent (e.g.; L-ascorbic acid) is provided. This thermal color forming layer is formed by separately applying the copper (II) complex and the reducing agent. In a thermal recording material wherein the thermal color forming layer is provided on the support, an under layer based on plastic spherical fine hollow particles composed of a thermoplastic resin is provided between the support and the thermal color forming layer. As a result, the thermal recording material excellent in the preservability of a recording image and a background and chemical resistance can be obtained. |
