Cartridge filter for cleaning gas, in particular ambient air, which filter can be fitted in an air conditioning cabinet to supply clean air. In a standard cartridge filter 1 a coarse filter cloth 4 is folded inwards, so that its surface area is larger than the surface area of the front face of the standard cartridge filter. The coarse filter cloth can extend over that wall section 5 of the housing 3 of the cartridge filter 1 which is located between two juxtaposed, diverging sheets of filter material 2. It is also possible for the edges 6 of the coarse filter cloth 4, situated near the said wall sections 5 to be secured by gluing, clamping or in a similar manner. This can be achieved by means of a clamping member 7 which can also serve for securing a baffle plate 9. <IMAGE>
