REAL TIME PICTURE COMPRESSION PROCESSING UNIT

PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in the picture quality by adjusting a parameter of a 2nd encoder based on a compression video signal subject to compression processing by a 1st encoder and recording the compressed video signal by the 2nd encoder. CONSTITUTION:A pre-encoder 7 limits a band of a video signal to implement motion compensation, DC transformer and quantizes the video signal by a quantization step number. Then the quantized signal is subject to variable length coding and it is fed to a rate checker 9 and a decoder 10 as the compressed video signal. A delay circuit 8 delays the video signal by 'processing time of pre-encoder 7 and time required for revising a parameter of encoder 14' and gives the delayed signal to the encoder 14. The encoder 14 executes compression processing based on various parameters and gives the obtained compression video signal to a formatter 3. The formatter 3 converts the compression video signal into a data format for a CD and gives the converted signal to a laser beam recorder 4, by which the signal is recorded sequentially on the CD.
