PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency and reliability by automatically and surely detecting a tailing to be one cause of the pattern fault of printed matter and preventing the inferiority of printed matter. CONSTITUTION:This device is composed of an image extraction means performing a synthesis after a horizontal image and a vertical image are generated by fetching the reference image of an inspection reference and and the object image of an inspection object from printed matter, extracting the horizontal edge and the vertical edge and binarizing them, a vertical emphasis means 3 emphasizing the vertical components of the both extracted images, a mask preparation means 4 preparing a mask image by expanding the emphasized reference contour image and a mask processing means 5 combining the mask image and the emphasized object contour image and detecting the tailing, and exactly and automatically detects the tailing generated in the direction reverse to a printing direction. |
