<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a paper size detection sensor and obtain a roller type paper size sensor which eliminates the need to select paper size for control over reading, writing, etc., by incorporating a paper size detecting function in a roller for paper conveyance. CONSTITUTION:The roller type paper size sensor consists of a roller 14 for paper conveyance equipped with metallic terminals 15 formed radially from plural positions along the center line and a receiving shaft 9 which sends electric signals out of the metallic terminals through signal lines 10. A control means detects paper being present between a metallic plate and the roller 14 by detecting the electric conduction/nonconduction state between the metallic terminals 15 and metallic plate through a signal line 10 through the rotation of the roller 14 on the metallic plate. Then a maximum value and a minimum value of the nonconduction state along the center are detected and stored in a memory, and paper size is decided. Therefore, the paper size sensor is unnecessary and the roller type paper size sensor which eliminates the need to select paper size for control over reading, writing, etc., is obtained.</p> |
