<p>PURPOSE:To attain decoding of image data compressed by a prescribed system with respect to the compressed image data reproduction device having a small size frame memory. CONSTITUTION:When a bidirectional predictive coding frame (B frame) is decoded, the sequence of arrangement of frames of data comprising referenced in- frame coding frames (intra-coding image (I frame)) and predictive coding frames (P frame) are specified, part of the data of the frames to be referenced is stored in a display buffer 14 and the B frames are decoded while referencing both the data in a frame memory 13 and the data in the display buffer 14.</p> |
