PURPOSE:To prevent a cleaning blade from having backward warping and deteriorating the cleaning performance by rotating a photoreceptor forward succeeding the reverse rotation before holding it in the stand-by state. CONSTITUTION:In a cleaning unit provided with the cleaning blade 25, the cleaning blade is, for instance, made of rubber in a state of the sheet plate oblong in the axial direction of the photoreceptor 11 and supported by the blade holder 26 with the tip 25a projecting toward the photoreceptor 11. The tip 25a of the cleaning blade 25 is held in contact with the surface of the photoreceptor 11 by normally energizing the blade holder 26 for turning clockwise centering the support shaft 26a. The photoreceptor 11 is reversely rotated for removing the remaining toner stuck on the tip 25a of the cleaning blade 25 before coming in the stand-by state after completion of recording, then the photoreceptor 11 is held in the stand-by state after the forward rotation succeeding the reverse rotation. Thus, the cleaning blade 25 is held in the stand-by state with the normal state of pressing against the photoreceptor 11. |
