PURPOSE:To provide a character processing method/device which can acquire the access information to the word dictionary parts in a common process against the dictionaries having different forms of dictionary index parts, can omit the access information acquiring processes for each dictionary, and can decrease the total number of access information acquiring processes. CONSTITUTION:It is decided in step S11 whether an initial access state is set to a dictionary or not. If set, the form of contents of a dictionary index part to receive an access is converted in step S12 and stored in a common dictionary index part in step S13. Therefore it is possible to refer to the common dictionary index part in step S14 and to acquire the access information necessary for having an access to a word dictionary part of the dictionary just by referring to the common dictionary index part. Thus an access is possible to the word dictionary part in step S15. |
