PURPOSE:To perform the possession and fault recovery processing of a check point at high speed during the execution of a transaction. CONSTITUTION:This system is provided with a current version logical page block 304 for consisting of a page table to manage a physical page corresponding to each logical page of a database corresponding to a shadow page system and a management block 302 for managing the page table inside the block 304. At the time of the check point, concerning the management block 302, contents deleting the shadow pages are backed up inside a logical page management block 402 on a secondorder memory 40 and concerning the logical page block 304, the contents are backed up inside a logical page block 404 on the second-order memory 40 as they are. When the transaction is completed, the log is recorded in a system log file 412 on the second-order memory 40. When any system fault is generated, the data-base is recovered into a state before the fault generation based on the contents of the blocks 402 and 403 and the file 412.
