PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium making dubbing difficult, facilitating the discrimination of a pirated version and having an improved dropout level and improved running durability by successively laminating one or more nonmagnetic colored layers and one or more magnetic layers on a substrate and regulating the surface specific resistance of each of the magnetic layers to a prescribed value or below. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic colored layer 11 and a magnetic layer 12 are successively laminated on one side of a transparent substrate 10 to obtain a tape 41. The magnetic layer 12 contains ferromagnetic metal powder such as Fe-Al, silicone oil, fatty acid ester, an abrasive material, etc., and vinyl chloride resin modified with polar groups is used as a binder. A pigment and dye coated with silver powder, etc., are used in the colored layer 11 and the amt. of the pigment and dye is limited to <=30wt.% of the amt. of an electric conductive pigment so as to regulate the surface resistance to <=1.0X10<10>OMEGA/cm<2>, preferably 51.0X10<9>OMEGA/cm<2>. By this structure, the objective high quality magnetic recording medium is obtd. |
