PURPOSE:To provide an electronic dictionary consulting device which can extract the equivalents of words and phrases of another language by means of a single word retrieving key. CONSTITUTION:An electronic dictionary consulting device is provided with a word dictionary part 14 which stores a word of the first language serving as a headword and a word of the second language equivalent to the headword, a phrase dictionary part 15 which stores the word of the first language serving as a headword and an equivalent of a phrase of the second language produced from the headword of the first language, and a dictionary deciding data base 13 which stores the information on the types of dictionaries storing the head word of the first language, an equivalent of this headword and an equivalent of the phrase produced from the headword of the first language. When a retrieving word is inputted from an input part 11, a dictionary deciding part 12 retrieves the data base 13 and decides a dictionary to be retrieved. Then a dictionary retrieving part 16 retrieves the decided word and phrase dictionaries to extracts the words and phrases of the second language equivalent to those of the first language and shows these extracted equivalent words and phrases at a display part 17. |
