Producing stiffening elements of predetermined shape by cutting them out of a steel plate comprises: (a) appropriate positioning of the steel plate; (b) cutting of the steel plate into a number of strips; and (c) cutting of the resulting strips into given shapes while step (b) proceeds. Also claimed is an appts. incorporating a matrix work table (30) carrying the steel plate (P), guide rails (40), a carriage (10) with cutting torches (11) for prodn. of strips (S), and a carriage (2) with a cutting torch (2) for producing stiffening elements (B).
