The binding holds the boot for the sports gear and is automatically released, on attaining a limit force value. It has one or more spring elements (15), which abut resiliently a release member (10) via arrester elements (25,26). The spring elements are pref. in the form of compression or tensile springs. Alternately spring loaded shanks may be used, or single- or multi-shank bending springs may find application, e.g. U-shaped springs with two shanks, between which may be located the release member.
