The chair has a frame (2) on which the seat (1) pivots round an axle (6). The back (7) pivots on an axle (10) on the back of the seat. The front of the seat is joined to the frame by two knuckle joints (12,13) joined by a common axle (16). Two pneumatic struts (18,27) join the back to the seat and the knuckle joint is joined to a plate (21). This pivots on an axle (22) and has a cam (24) which pivots to move a rod (20). A lever (26) moves the cam to open a passage of the strut (18) to immobilize the seat and the back.
