Television and radio audience measurement method

The method uses a portable apparatus (1) which receives (2) the transmitted television and radio signals received by the TV or radio of an individual. Comparison (4) of the signals with a range of stored frequencies, allows the broadcasting station to be determined. Information such as the transmitted frequency listened to, the listening time, the location of the receiver and socio-demographic information is collected in real time. The information is passed via a telephone to a central processor.
