The connecting plate (7) for railway sleepers, especially at direction change points, has a single sheet at the sole surface level at a max. from the leading edge (3) of the first sleeper (1) to the trailing edge (6) of the next sleeper. At least two bolts for each sleeper (4) are generally on the sleeper axis and at right angles to the sole surfaces (2,5) of the sleepers (1,4), screwed into place. A plastics plate of EVA is inserted as an intermediate layer (8) between the sleeper (1,4) and the connecting plate (7). The hollow zones (17) below the plastics plugs (16) are filled with a mass to prevent corrosion and for sealing.
