The pivot axis (10,24) of a support (2,3) is movable at right-angles to the platform floor. The distance of the pivot axis (10) of the support from the underside of the platform floor (1) is alterable to the extent adopted by an opposing support in the folded-to position on the underside of the platform floor. Fixtures (16) are provided on the underside of the platform floor, which have a slot in which a part (10,24) forming the rotary axis of the supports is rotatably and displaceably fitted. The movement of the rotary axis of the supports for altering their distance from the underside of the platform floor is derived from a pivot movement of at least one lever. At one end of the platform floor a locator (21) is provided, in which the support at the opposite end of the platform in the folded state can be located.
